Goos–Hänchen Lateral Displacements and Angular Deviations: When These Optical Effects Offset Each Other
نویسندگان
چکیده
For optical beams transmitted by a right-angle prism, the Goos–Hänchen shift can never be seen as pure effect. Indeed, lateral displacement, caused total internal reflection, will always accompanied angular deviations generated transmission through incoming and outgoing interfaces. This combined effect analyzed using Taylor expansion of Fresnel coefficients. The analytic expression found for beam allows us to determine parameters, incidence angles, axial distance which displacements are compensated deviations. Proposals optimize experimental implementations also briefly discussed.

Reciprocity and Emotions When Reciprocators Know Each Other
This is an experimental study of a three-player power-to-take game where a take authority is matched with two responders. The game consists of two stages. In the first stage, the take authority decides how much of the endowment of each responder that is left after the second stage will be transferred to the take authority (the so-called take rate). In the second stage, each responder can react ...
متن کاملReal-time detection of linear and angular displacements with a modified DVD optical head.
Here we demonstrate that an astigmatic detection system (ADS), constructed with a modified digital-versatile-disk (DVD) optical head, can achieve real-time measurement of a linear displacement and two-dimensional (2D) tilt angles with a high sensitivity. An atomic force microscope (AFM), using our detection system to sense the deflection of microfabricated cantilevers, can resolve single atomic...
متن کاملDevelopment of an Optical Fiber Sensor for the Measurement of Angular Displacements in Anthropomorphic Systems
Due to the arising importance and widespread role of robotic systems, it is fundamental the development of high-performance position sensors. There are several existing methods to determine position of anthropomorphic manipulators. However, they present limitations, such as vulnerability to electromagnetic fields or application of mechanical load to the system. Concerning these problems, an opt...
متن کاملLarge positive and negative lateral optical beam displacements due to surface plasmon resonance
We report abnormally large positive and negative lateral optical beam shifts at a metal–air interface when the surface plasmon resonance of the metal is excited. The optimal thickness for minimal resonant reflection is identified as the critical thickness above which a negative beam displacement is observed. Experimental results show good agreement with theoretical predictions and the large obs...
